That didn’t work very well, did it? This is a re-edit of an accidental posting I made using the Flock browser which is based on Firefox but has some fancy features for working with blogs. However, it’s apparent that it doesn’t do it very well despite seeming to be able to, and so I ended up putting live a test post. It just goes to show that I shouldn’t try to muck about with pre-release software, as exciting as it all seems.

I’d have taken it down, only now people have commented so it’s too late. Poo.

More adventures to be written about later, we had the company Christmas party on Friday and today I was in the UK on a business trip, all very exciting, and Friday (my first day of Christmas holiday) I’ll be in hospital for some sort of examination. Nothing too serious, but doubtless I’ll be walking funny for a few days. Let your feeble imaginations run riot with that one. Also, there have been many more entertaining posts over on www.ideasforcheapstuff.com with the ever-delightful Tee and her girleens so get over there and check it out.

If any of you, my loyal and ever diminishing readership, want to come over to Los Blancheles for a drink over Christmas, or to meet up for a pint in Dublin, let me know; you’re not only welcome, I invite it.

Cooling Down. And where are you today?

Whoa. I have to say, that post was strong, contained harsh language and was a general all purpose apple-cart upsetting gesture of the first order. I was angry, I was impulsive and I can tell you it was cathartic in a big way. But enough! What’s done is done and let’s all move on, in […]

Whoa. I have to say, that post was strong, contained harsh language and was a general all purpose apple-cart upsetting gesture of the first order. I was angry, I was impulsive and I can tell you it was cathartic in a big way. But enough! What’s done is done and let’s all move on, in our interesting ways.

Weekend was hectic and if it wasn’t for living out here in this great house then I’d have lost the plot, although hanging out with Rik was great and Neil’s party on Saturday was a bit of fun. Watching the Irish rugby team get turned into a stain by the New Zealand All Blacks team on Saturday was demoralising but it was sort of inevitable, like watching the Faroese football team put up a spirited fight against Brazil. I also managed to get more work done on my ongoing project of getting an image manager for WordPress (the current offerings, while all free are also not very good at all), which will allow Tee to put images on her site.Today I had to trawl through old toys and odds and ends from my brother’s and my childhood which was emotional and trying but necessary. So, I am happy enough.

What I’d like to know is, if you’re reading my web log, who are you and where are you? Comments below please and don’t be put off if your comment gets held for moderation, I’ll put it up sooner or later ;-)

Right, I just got an email from someone I haven’t heard from in a while so I better get on and actually do some personal communication…

You’d think there was nothing going on

It’s been almost two weeks since I last posted; you might be forgiven for thinking that I have been doing nothing, or lost interest in the site after an initial euphoria of being able to dump my ramblings on the world, or maybe even lost interest in everything and cleared off for parts unknown. No. […]

No. I have, in fact, been very busy and have lots of little notes and photos to stick up here, I just haven’t had the time. It really has been that busy for me over the last two weeks. Most of my time that I haven’t been working is time I’ve been spending with my girlfriend Therese since she is going away next Wednesday in the small hours of the morning and obviously that’s the big deal right now, everything else being somewhat secondary (or even very much secondary). In between there have been parties, intriguingly artistic nights out with excitable Romanians and a trip to the zoo of all things. And Rua Donohoe’s testimonial match! For which he managed to stay on the pitch for an entire hour without breaking anything; typically he saved the best until last.

I also came up with a number of topics I decided I’d want to write about, ranging from self-censorship, obliged censorship and such matters through to Tadhg and Sean evangelising AJAX to me (after Google‘s use of it for Gmail, it’s become the hip new technology, despite having been around for years before; it’s a system for passing XML to a browser. Propellerhead stuff, and most of you have no idea what I’m on about. You’re not missing much, I can tell you) which was interesting for reasons I’ll go into later.

I’ve gotten stuck into getting Therese’s site together. We got her the hosting, I’d already gotten the domain, and now I’m in a rush to get the damn thing up and looking pretty before she goes. It’s going to be a hectic weekend ahead…

Right, I better get back to it. Still busy at work too, though some good results and learning some new tricks here and there; I was even so taken with the whole weblog experience that I thought of setting one up internally for writing about in-house stuff and discussions, but if I can’t find time to write my own one, where the hell will I find time for a work one? Hm…
